Advanced courses at Root and Claggett Junior High consist of advanced math courses in grades 6-8, taught by highly qualified math teachers. In addition, the top 10% are served in a Language Arts Plus class and  Science Plus course in 7th and 8th grade. Both courses are taught by highly qualified classroom teachers with support from the Gifted Education Coordinator.  Click on the content areas for course descriptions and criteria for placement.

Algebra, Geometry and Science Plus 8 are high school credit courses.  Students' grades in these courses will be listed on their high school transcript and will calculated into their overall high school GPA.

Course for Gifted Math Students in 6th grade

Impact Math II is taught by a Gifted Intervention Specialist, Sue Scalia at A.I.Root Junior High, and Pat Sciarini at Claggett Junior High.  Students must meet the criteria for placement into this course.  Identification in Superior Cognitive or Math is required.
