About Heritage Elementary

A Community of Learners

The Heritage staff is dedicated to nurturing a respectful, caring environment where students can learn basic skills and be challenged in their studies.
Heritage is an open-space school that features a physical environment with flexible components and furnishings. It houses kindergarten through grade five.
Each morning at Heritage School, all students assemble as a community of learners to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing a patriotic song. Special performances are held and announcements are made at the opening assembly.

Challenging Curriculum, Rooted in the Basics

Heritage Elementary School follows a challenging curriculum, rooted in the basics. Subject areas are integrated to allow for a more enriching educational experience. Teachers team with their grade level partners for more uniformity of instruction between classes.
Classes participate in an all-school theme week once each year. Special events to enhance and enrich learning include Right to Read Week, C.O.S.I., fine arts assemblies, and Field Day.
Students can enjoy learning about their environment through activities planned in the Heritage Land Lab, the pavilion, wildlife habitat garden and butterfly garden.

Special Education

The building houses four special education resource rooms to serve students with special needs.

Parent Volunteer Tutoring

A parent volunteer coordinator recruits and trains parent and community volunteers to work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic skills.

Parents Are Our Partners

Heritage School's active PTO plans many activities for families and supports school programs.
The PTO sponsors an ice cream social to welcome everyone back to school, a fall carnival, Holiday Shop, some family fun nights, hands-on math and science nights, and school assemblies including COSI.
