The committee addressed five areas of concern. The focus was on the following:
1. Chaperone Expectations
2. Dancing
3. Dress Code
4. Substance Abuse
5. Ticket Sales / Eligibility
Chaperone Expectations
- Police presence will be increased inside and outside the dance.
- All parent and staff responsibilities will be clearly defined prior to fulfilling their duties.
Dancing
- Students who participate in dancing that has been deemed inappropriate by staff will be removed from the dance immediately and will not be re-admitted.
- Dancing that is dangerous, inappropriate, or sexually suggestive violate the schools dancing rules and will result in immediate removal from the dance.
- NO WARNINGS WILL BE GIVEN!
Dress Code
Ladies
- Dresses
Must be finger tip length
May not show excessive skin in the front, back, or sides of the dress - No hats, headbands, bandanas
- No sunglasses
Gentlemen
- Must wear ties and must remain appropriately dressed at all times
- No hats, headbands, bandanas
- No sunglasses
Students who fail to meet these guidelines will not be admitted to the dance until their dress meets the requirements listed above
Substance Abuse
- All dance participants are subject to breathalyzers and searches. Those who choose not to participate will not be admitted to the dance.
- Students who are found abusing any substance are subject to school discipline and/or police involvement
- Any student or guest who violates our policy will not be permitted to attend the next school sponsored dance. i.e. violators at Sweethearts would not be able to attend Prom or the next eligible school dance
Ticket Sales / Eligibility
- No tickets will be sold at the door of the dance – No exceptions
- Students can purchase tickets at school during the week leading up to the dance
- No one will be admitted to the dance after 8:30
Guest Rules:
- Middle School students – may not attend under any circumstances
- High School students - guests must be active high school students and must be in good standing with their home school
- High School graduates – may attend only if they have graduated from Medina High School and are not older than 20 years of age
- Guests are subject to all rules required of Medina High School students
