Maxine Slaybaugh is a member of NHS, Latin Club, Link Crew, Huddle, Sidekicks, VOFT, Peer Tutoring and has worked on the High School Community Garden and the Wellness Committee.  Maxine is also a 4 year Girls Tennis and Symphony Orchestra member.  She is the daughter of Shirley Gawron and William Slaybaugh. 

 


Ryan Stenquist, captain of the varsity soccer team is a member of Shuddle, NHS, Link Crew and symphony orchestra.  Ryan is an Eagle Scout and a Boys Youth Group leader and  plays the piano for his church.  He is also involved in rec soccer.  Ryan is the son of Jim and Kathryn Stenquist. 

Ryan is also the County-Wide Student of the Month for May. 

 


Students of the Month April

Katelyn Kuhajda, daughter of Ken and Kim Kuhajda, is an active leader in Student Council, GLC, Shuddle, Link Crew, Video Production, and the Stingers Colorguardand a member of the Orchestra and NHS.  Katelyn also volunteers as a peer tutor and at Camelot Nursing Home.  Through her membership in the student service organizations she has worked on the Prom planning project, Adopt-A-Family, MCS Summit Project, VOFT Dance Marathon, and the NHS Student of the Month Committee. 

 

Zach Dombi is a member of Student Council, Huddle, Link Crew, NHS and Marching/Concert Band.  Captain of the Varsity Cross Country team and member of Varsity Track he is a 4-year letter winner.  Zach participated in Buckeye Boys State his junior year.  He is the son of Joe and Karen Dombi. 


Students of the Month - March

Scott Gerlica has taken leadership roles in Key Club, NOSB Penguin Bowl, Shuddle, and NHS as well as participating in the Medina City Schools' Summit.  This senior has been very active in Key Club/Kiwanis volunteering out in the community.  Scott is the son of Maria and Bryan Gerlica.

 

 

 

Emily Morgan daughter of Tim and Ellyn Morgan is a National Merit Finalist.  Emily, a member of NHS, Huddle/Shuddle, Latin Club, president of Debate Team, captain Varsity Soccer Team and Homecoming Court, also finds the time for Peer Volunteer Tutoring, Life Teen Youth Group, Teen Court, CYO Basketball and Club Soccer. 

Emily is also the County Student of the Month!


Students of the Month - February

Colin Berger is a tenor sax player who has also participated in track, freshmen football and Shuddle.  Colin, the son of Jim and Barb Berger, is very active in his church youth group and volunteers for the Youth Basketball League.

 

 

Madison Sternberg is the daughter of Gary and Stacy Sternberg.  Maddie is a member of NHS, Huddle, Peer Tutoring, and has run Cross Country and Track.  She is active in her church youth group giving back to the community.


Student of the Month - January

Senior Veronica Toth is a National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist.  She is vice president of the Debate Team this year and qualified to states last year in one debate event and qualified this year in a different event as a first year participant in each event.  This is an exception to the norm since usually a student will compete for four years in a single event and hope to qualify to states by the third or fourth year of participating.  Veronica also serves as secretary-treasurer for the National Honor Society.  Outside of school, she is an active volunteer in her church helping with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and going on mission trips. Veronica is the daughter of Julie and Sam Toth.                                                                                                
                                                                                    
 

Senior Alex Raz, son of Andrew and Paula Raz, has been the student council class president all four years of his high school career.   He is also the founder and president of The Student's Accord, which is a discussion based group developed as an extension of The Summit.  He is the first student member to serve on the Board of Education.  Alex is also an active member of SHUDDLE, Link Crew, Drama Club, National Honor Society, Buckeye Boys State, World Affairs Seminar and a two-year letter winner in Cross Country.

Students of the Month - December


Mitch Wall, the son of Amy and Steve Wall has always been very involved in Student Council
and is this year's SC President. He has the reputation of being a strong leader and a good role model for his peers. Mitch is also a member of NHS, Shuddle, Latin Club, Link Crew as well as the captain of the Cross Country Team. He has also given time to the Munch Food Bank and holds down a part-time job.


 

Carrie Kubasta has been involved in NHS, GLC, Shuddle, Link Crew, Key Club, French Club and Drama Club. Besides being captain of the varsity lacrosse team in her junior year and playing club lacrosse, she also played a year on the girls soccer team and field hockey. Carrie gives back to the community volunteering with the Peer Tutoring Program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Sidekicks Program, Safety Town, Medina Cares, VOFT, Summer Kids Camp and Homework Helper at the Nurtury, and Medina Youth Lacrosse camps. Carrie is the daughter
of Kent and Mary Kubasta.


 


 


Student of the Month - November 2011

Emily Ann Metzker is the daughter of Richard and Karen Metzker.  In her high school career, this National Honor Society student has been involved with GLC, Key Club, SHUDDLE, Peer tutoring and VOFT as well as working as a crew member for the Drama Department. She is also active in Relay for Life, Medina Cares Charity, Lake Trails Outdoor Camp and the Life Teen Youth Group.  Emily played second base for JV Softball and has been involved with rec softball and bowling for many years. 

 

 

Nicholas Kenneth Peters is the son of Ken and Melanie Peters.
Nick is kept very busy with his AP and Post Secondary coursework and being a peer tutor.  He is described as being helpful, motivated and responsible.  Nick has also been involved with rec basketball

 


                                                                                      

 


Student of the Month - October 2011

 

Senior Hailey Wetta is the daughter of Kelley and Scott Wetta.  Hailey is a member of the National Honor Society, Symphony, Strings and Chamber Orchestras, Latin Club and HUDDLE.  She is also a Varsity Cheerleader and Varsity Diver.  Hailey gives back to the school and community volunteering as a special needs cheer coach, peer tutor, pit orchestras and participating in the VOFT Dance Marathon and JSA's Boxland. 

  

Junior Ryan Rose is the son of Vivian and Warren Rose. Ryan is a member of HUDDLE, Symphony Band, Concert Choir, Encore Entertainment Co. and the a cappella group Churchills. Ryan's community service includes helping with the Claggett Academic Challenge team, visiting nursing homes to perform with a Jazz quartet, After Prom set up and as a member of the Holy Martyrs Youth Ministry.
