Senior Photography

You are welcome to have their personal senior pictures taken by any photographer they wish.  But for the yearbook, you must get a picture taken by Woodard Photographic.

When you call, please specify if you want a regular appointment (which means you plan on purchasing your senior pictures from them) or Yearbook Only (which means you are using a different photograher for your personal photos but just want to be in the yearbook).

In addition, we will be having an in-school photography date November 30 for yearbook-only photography.  These photos have the same background and will look the same as if you went to the studio.

Deadline:  The deadline for senior pictures is December 22.

How to get the picture to the Yearbook:  You do nothing--Woodward will provide us with all photos on a CD.  Just please---get your picture taken!   Sometimes when you are a senior it doesn't seem to matter, but it's something people really regret many years later.  We want EVERYONE in it.

Why do Yearbooks arrive in the Fall at MHS?

Every year I get questions from parents wanting to know why students get their yearbooks in the fall. There are various reasons, but I feel in our case there are two important ones.

The first is school tradition.  If you go back into the archives of yearbooks (they go back to 1913, in case you are wondering), you would see that it appears most of the books follow the tradition of covering the entire school year.   Speaking personally, I can tell you that this is my 26th year teaching at Medina, and in all those years it has been the tradition to receive books in the fall, and for many years prior.

The second reason is the decision that it's important to cover an ENTIRE school year in a  yearbook.  When you choose to have a spring delivery book  you make sacrifices, and those sacrifices would be that  spring sports, and spring events such as the prom, graduation and Showtime wouldn't be in the book.  That's hard to imagine, isn't it?  Schools resolve this in several ways.  Some choose to never address those problems and they're ignored, some do books that pick up the next fall with those subjects.  That's hard for me to imagine.  Others do supplements that you pick up later and stick in the book.  When I look at those options, for me the clear choice is to continue with a tradition established many, many years before me.
