Medina High School environmental science and biology teacher Laura Frawley wanted her students to understand the struggle many individuals have throughout the world to obtain water so she organized “Students Walk for Water.” Students in her classes used May 4 to demonstrate the distance people must walk to get water as they spent their time walking the track at Medina High School. Some students walked from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM. One group of students had already walked seven miles by 10:30 AM. Austin Hazek, Marcus Davis, and Mike Hierholzer walked while carrying buckets to symbolize how hard individuals must work to get water. The students obtained pledges for their walking. VOFT, a high school organization, also donated money and collectively $1200 will be donated to Feeding Medina County. |
